IT Center West participated at CommunicAsia 2009 in Singapore. Buzzwords of the Trade fair were Green ICT, Cloud Computing & Broadband.
CommunicAsia together with EnterpriseIT and InteractiveDMEare the leading trade fairs within ICT in Asia Pacific. CommunicAsia 2009 with 1300 exhibitors from 53 länder attracted almost 50000 visitors. The economic climate in South East Asia is still in good shape with positive growth from several markets. During the opening ceremony a number of trends where highlighted by leading PICT proffessionals from the region, such as Green ICT, Cloud Computing and High Speed BroadBand. In the latter area, Singapore has very ambitious plans with high speed broad band to all citizens. In the mean time, the social aspects are considered with subsidized broad band and lap tops to children in school age within families with low income. Green ICT is a topic with high attention, partly due to the green house effect and possible cost reductions with Green ICT but also due to non-reliable power supply and electricity costs, which also were reflected among the exhibiting companies and at the conference.IT Center West were exhibiting in the Pavillon of the Swedish Trade Council. During the days of CommunicAsia meetings between Swedish ICT-companies and international investors were arranged as an activity within InvestICT (www.investict.se). The Swedish Trade Council arranged speed-dating with regional companies and organizations. The large interest for Swedish ICT were obvious during the days of CommunicAsia, with several inquires as a result. Sweden was well represented by well over 20 exhibitors, most of them in the pavillon of the Swedish Trade Council. A quick gallup reveiled positive response from the Swedish companies and plans of expanion within the region.
During CommunicAsia a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Center of Visuzlization and Media Development Authority of Singapore, conserning future co-operation and projects, see further Göteborg och Singapore samarbetar kring visualisering.
