40 new engineer jobs at ESAB
The global company ESAB, which produces welding equipment, has decided to establish a global R&D center in Göteborg.Around 40 new engineers will be recruited and in a few years time the center will hopefully have doubled the number of employees from 75 to 150 people. Joakim Ed is the Global Technical Director at ESAB.
What brought you to this decision?- Today, ESAB manages the R&D of welding equipment at seven different locations in South America, North America, Europe and Asia. In order to further strengthen ESAB’s position at a global market and offer a more complete supply of products and services, we have chosen to centralize the activity. Centralization will also result in a global common way of working and will liberate more time for innovation.
Why did you choose Göteborg for this center?
- External factors such as a good business climate, the innovative environment with the proximity to development-intensive businesses, universities as well as the good chances to attract international competence was very meaningful. We believe that the Göteborg Region has an attractive living environment for our foreign employees. This combined with internal factors, such as enhancing the collaboration between different development activities at ESAB.
